Every year, iDiving conducts courses through April to September at the Lung Dung Bay at the northeast coast of Taiwan. Throughout the year, the courses train  over 250 Open Water Divers. Besides providing the basic knowledge of marine biology and diving techniques, iDiving also instills the knowledge of the ecology of Lung Dung Bay and the concept of sustainable development with the local environment in its students. In 2013, iDiving hosted our first beach cleaning volunteer activity, and ever since then it had turned into a regular ocean and beaches clean up events inspiring the local business along the shore and working together to sustain the northeast Lung Dung Bay ecology. In 2015, iDiving participated with Reef Check, and in 2017 was recognized as one of the NGO Reef Check Foundation certified reef check training centers. Since 2018, iDiving has been training Ecodivers to execute reef checks and helping Taiwan Environmental Information Association to establish Taiwan coral databanks. Since 2016, iDiving has been leading divers to build nursing homes for neritic squid and reconstructing a diverse underwater ecology in Lung Dung Bay areas.

“Know the ocean, be Intimate with the ocean, love and care for  the ocean.” proposed by Taiwanese Ichthyologist Kuang-chao Shao, is also one of the core values that iDiving resonates  with. iDiving believes that only through guiding people to get to know more about the ocean of Taiwan, and to be closer to the sea, could really raise the awareness of the importance of marine conservation. Therefore, iDiving creates diving activities not just as a sport of leisure, but a sport that could inspire ecological conservative concepts among the general public, and then could inspire more people to devote themselves into environmental friendly actions to help secure the oceans around Taiwan.

The northeast coast Lung Dung Bay is located only 50 minutes away from the center of Taipei City, and it is the most convenient location to get to know Taiwan’s underwater ecologies. We believe only through getting more people involved in marine activities could create a better oceanic culture for Taiwan.
