Songshan District, which has a good living environment and green parks, is located near a bend in the Keelung River. It used to be called "Xikou," which is Taiwanese for "where the river bends." Due to the rivers and railways passing through the area it became an early important port and relay station in northern Taiwan, from which many goods were transferred to other locations. After the construction of Songshan Airport, Taiwan's first airport, Songshan District became an important financial and industrial center. With Taipei Arena, a department store shopping area, cultural park, Raohe Night Market etc., as well as the underground railway, east-west expressway and MRT network extending in all directions, Songshan offers a balanced focus on commerce and culture.

Songshan is also a section on the Danlan Cultural Trail North Route. From Bade Road, follow Civic Boulevard, pass Zhonglun Fucheng Temple, the largest and most majestic Land God Temple in Taipei City, and continue to Songshan Cultural and Creative Park, which has preserved wooden buildings and is home to domestic design cultural and creative products; "National Railway Museum" was originally the Taipei Locomotive Factory and formerly the largest railway vehicle maintenance base. It currently retains the original historical buildings and machinery and has become a living railway museum.

Follow Section 4 on Civic Boulevard and Bade Road to Songxin Road, and turn into Raohe Street. This area was formerly "Xikou Street" and where Songshan Presbyterian Church was founded by Dr. George Leslie Mackay. The steeple is the main landmark on the street, which is also home to Songshan Fude Temple, Songshan Cifu Temple, and Songshan Ciyou Temple built in the 18th year of the reign of Qing Emperor Qianlong (1753).
