Bangka is today called Wanhua. In the early years, the Pingpu people brought agricultural produce here in canoes to trade and the word for "canoe" in the Pingpu language is pronounced "Mangjia." The market where people traded with Han Chinese settlers was called "Bangka." In the past, it was listed as "First Tainan, Second Lugang, Third Bangka," referring to Anping in Tainan and Lukang in Changhua. Danlan Old Trail also starts in Bangka and extends to Yilan.

Wanhua has many temples, historic sites, traditional shops and local snacks. "Longshan Temple" is the starting point of Danlan Old Trail and a junction for old trails, including the South Route, North Route and Water Route. It is a category two national historic site and a must-visit attraction for tourists. In the past, “Longshan Temple,” “Tianhou Temple” and ”Qinghui Zushi Temple” were known as the "Three Temples of Bangka." In addition,  “Qingshan Temple” and “Xuehai Academy” are listed as category three national historical relics. Wanhua Specialty Shopping Street has everything from wholesale clothing, Buddhist supplies and herbal medicines to dolls that young people love, fashionable clothing, Japanese cosmetics etc. There is a dazzling array of local snacks in this area, and lovers of food can always find old flavors they remember from bygone days.

"Bangka Cultural Trail" on Danlan Old Trail further leads into the streets and alleys of Wanhua. Through guided tours these connect with historical sites, providing a deeper understanding of Wanhua's early prosperity, changes over time and future development.
