Guting is imbued with a strong sense of cultural and educational nostalgia. In 1946, Taiwan's first normal college to train secondary school teachers was established in this area. Today it is National Taiwan Normal University. The second-hand book shops and newsstands on Kuling Street were once a place for scholars and students in an era when supplies were scarce, attracting people looking for treasures and new knowledge; Xiamen Street is where locals go to buy and sell second-hand electrical appliances; Nanchang Street is a furniture shopping area, where residential furniture or company office furniture can be purchased.

Follow the Xindian Riverside Bikeway and pass through "Riverside Park" between Yongfu Bridge and Zhongzheng Bridge to see first-hand the history of Danlan Water Route. Today, the well-planned bikeways are spacious and stable, while the park is equipped with tennis courts, basketball courts, ice rinks, and rock climbing practice venues. In addition to landscape art and flower sea areas, it is a friendly park suitable for families and sporting activities.

Guting is the intersection station for the Green Line and Orange Line on the Taipei MRT, making it a transport hub. The "Kishu an Forest of Literature" in the area is an art space focused on literature, a designated Taipei Municipal Historic Site which displays exhibitions or other art works. Visitors can also enjoy literary lectures and meals from the writer’s private kitchen. “Schröder's Literature Garden," with its art enthusiast atmosphere, was adopted and renovated by local residents. "Schröder" means "lost" and the site was originally an abandoned vacant lot. The residents used recycled items to transform and design the venue, transforming it into an important literary treasure trove.
