Jingmei River in Jingmei in an important river and a tributary of Xindian River. It was originally called "Wulixue River" and its name in the Pingpu language means "beautiful stream." At that time, a water diversion canal was built in Jingmei for irrigation purposes. "Wulixue Canal" is the earliest canal built in Taipei, even earlier than the better known Liugong Canal. Jingmei River not only supplied irrigation water for farming in the Taipei Basin, but was also used by early settler to transport tea, minerals and crops. Historically, it established an important foundation for the economic development of north Taiwan.

Visitors to the Taipei Riverside Bikeway can see first-hand the water transportation history of Jingmei River and Xindian River along the Danlan Cultural Trail Water Route. After passing through Jingmei Riverside Park, we arrive in Jingmei and visit the Municipal Historic Site" of Jingmei Jiying Temple" built in the 10th year of the reign of Qing Emperor Xianfeng (1860) and "Xianji Rock" behind the temple which it is said was visited by Lu Dongbin, one of the Eight Immortals. The mountain offers fresh air, pleasant scenery and a wide range of plants, flowers and animals all year round. It is a place for sport and leisure activities.
