Muzha received its name because many fences were used on local land to defend it from external enemies. It is also the end point of the Danlan Cultural Trail Water Route and the starting point of the Mountain Route. Danlan Water Route runs along Taipei Riverside Bikeway, starting from Guilin Road Water Gate and ending at Muzha MRT Station. On the right bank of Daonan Riverside Park is the former Muzha Ferry Dock and on the bank the century-old "Ferry Dock Fude Temple," which was built by residents to protect the lives of ferry passengers.

Muzha has become a popular scenic spot due to its convenient MRT transportation, the completion of the Maokong Gondola and the fact that "Taipei Municipal Zoo" is the largest zoo in Taiwan. The Maokong Gondola was completed in 2007 and is about 4 km in length. In addition, the transparent carriages used by the "Eye of Maokong Gondola" allow people to experience what it feels like to fly in the sky at high altitude; the Gondola terminal station of "Maokong" is one of the main tea producing areas in Taipei, with many teahouses and restaurants serving local chicken and wild vegetables; during the holidays there is an endless stream of hikers and pilgrims to "Zhinan Temple" and "Zhangshan Temple" near Maokong. In addition to the Maokong hiking trails, visitors can also walk Quanshan Old Trail from MRT Muzha Station. The distance is not long, but those who have enough stamina can continue to Tiaomi Ancient Trail.
