There are many place in Yilan with the Chinese character "Jie" in their name. This is because when the early Han Chinese settlers arrived in Yilan to reclaim land, individuals often formed teams to reclaim wasteland and create habitable settlements, which they called "Jie." That is why there are places names such as Yijie, Erjie etc. The Danlan-Yilan Plain Line passes through Qijie, where the Canal Branch Line starts from Jinma Bridge in Toucheng and passes Zhuan Bridge, Dezikouxi Bikeway, Wayao Bridge, Qiwulan Road, Qijie Road, Wunuan Road and Zhongshan Road Section 5, ending at Jintongchun Road. Along the way, visitors can experience the wisdom of the ancestors in reclaiming wasteland and diverting water for irrigation.

The upper and lower cultural layers of "Chiwulan Site" located in Qijie have been excavated and studied by experts and scholars. The upper cultural layer is about 100-600 years old and a large number of rich relics and artifacts from the old Kavalan Jiushe have been unearthed. The lower cultural layer dates back about 800-1,300 years, and prehistoric cultural relics were discovered. Archaeological scholars have speculated that the site was the largest village community on the Lanyang Plain in the 17th century. In addition, cultural relics unearthed at the invaluable Chiwulan Site have allowed archaeologists to conduct in-depth research on early social patterns and cultural changes in the Kavalan community.
