Tsanguangliao Historic Trail was formerly the official road from Taipei to Yilan. It was an important road for mailing documents and military defense and a busy thoroughfare.

In the past, Jinguashi was home to a prosperous mining industry. In order to meet the huge demand for water from the mining industry and residents, a dam was built on the Peony River. However, today all that remain is the checkdam, the old pumping machine room, the old dam site and the water pipes.

Silver Grass grows on both sides of Tsanguangliao Historic Trail. During the mango season in autumn, the mountains are covered with Silver Grass and the fields glisten in the sun, resembling the waves on the ocean when the wind blows. This historic trail is recommended by hikers as the perfect place to admire Silver Grass.
