The first Han Chinese to arrive in NuanNuan and Pingxi cultivated Strobilanthes Cusia, and made camphor their main business, gradually building a road from NuanNuan to Shifenliao, which is the prototype of the Old Nuandong Trail. Although Old Nuandong Trail has been renovated, it still retains its original and ancient flavor. There are many small Land God temples along the route. Walk up the trail to the ridgeline of Wufen Mountain to reach the stone Land God "Lingtou Fude Temple" which is more than 200 years old and marks the end of the Old Nuandong Trail. Visitors can return to the beginning of the trail or connect to Wufen Mountain Trail and go to Xinpingxi Coal Mine Museum Park, where historical relics of Taiwan's coal mines are displayed.
