As visitors leave the entrance of Wufen Mountain Trail and head towards Xinpingxi Coal Mine Museum Park, Danlan Old Trail Middle Road passes through the Xinpingxi Coal Mine area and leads to Shifen Old Street. The area on both sides of the trail, which is less than one kilometer in length, is an important firefly conservation site in Pingxi District. During the spring months visitors can experience first-hand the "firefly viewing shuttle" and be surrounded by fireflies at close range. A row of yellow cypresses together with the railway line make this a popular site for wedding photography.
