Zhongkeng Historic Trail used to be a commercial road used by tea merchants to travel between Danshui and Yilan. It is located in Shuangxi District, New Taipei City. After passing over Zhongkeng Bridge, it arrives at the entrance to the mountain. The front section of the Historic Trail extends along Zhongkeng River, passing century-old Fude Temple and a stone arch bridge, with the end section being green terraced fields. From time to time, visitors will see buffalos roaming leisurely in the fields, enjoying a green grass meal or taking a bath.

Part of the mountain path along the Historic Trail remains the original dirt road, while another section is made up of manmade stone steps, while there are also sections where visitors need to step on stones to follow the river. The end of the Historic Trail is at Zhongkengtou ridge, which is also the intersection point for other Historic Trails, such as Bengshankeng, Kuolai, and Fangshankeng Historic Trails.
