Located in the Pinglin District of New Taipei City, Kuolai Historic Trail is adjacent to Beishi River, which is an important river in northern Taiwan and the water shed area of Feicui Reservoir, a key source of water for daily use in the Greater Taipei area. Kuolai Historic Trail runs along the banks of Beishi River, the Historic Trail starting after crossing Kuolai Suspension Bridge, which is about 40 meters long.

After crossing the suspension bridge, climb the stone steps along the narrow and steep mountain path. Some sections require visitors to cross bamboo bridges. Walk along the Historic Trail and enjoy the coolness of the running water and delightful sounds of the birds singing in the treetops. After a short walk along an industrial road, continue on the historic trail along the bamboo forest stone steps and farm buildings to reach the end point at Black Dragon Pool.

Kuolai Historic Trail, Wantan Historic Trail and Beishixi Historic Trail are part of Pingshuang Historic Trail, which can be completed in the same trip.
