Wantan Historic Trail is located between Pinglin District and Shuangxi District in New Taipei City. The trail is built along Wantan River. Compared with generally primitive mountain forest roads, the route is surrounded by dense forest and is has beautiful bubbling brooks and a lake.

The trail runs along the bank of Wantan River and is gentle and easy to walk making it suitable for all ages. Walk through a section of industrial road, and then climb up the stone steps to "Mengtan." Visitors who continue pass old farm buildings, stone bridges over the stream, waterfalls and flowing water between the mountain walls, and Youyinggong Temple next to a pavilion. The last section of the trail is paved which makes it much easier to walk, until it terminates at Wantan camping area.
