Dakeng Waigu Trail is an ancient road used by tea farmers to transport tea leaves from Shiding, Tuku, Shenkeng and other places to sell in Liuzhangli, Taipei. Danlan National Greenway South Road is mostly a commercial road, and was an essential thoroughfare used by merchants.

There is a Shiquanyan Qingshui Zushi Temple near the trail, built during the reign of Qing Emperor Daoguang (1820-1850) and  named after the spring water that gushes from the mountain wall. In the past, tea merchants used to rest here and stock up on water. Today, hikers rest and eat snacks in the square in front of the temple.

Wanfu Ecological Park near the historic trail is well-known for its blooming Tung flowers in April and May. Visitors can feel the different atmosphere of walking an original historic trail and at the end visit Shenkeng Old Street to enjoy its famous tofu dishes.
