Wutuxi Hiking Trail is located in Shiding District, New Taipei City adjacent to Wai’an Historic Trail. Before entering the trail, visitors pass a small bridge over Wutu River at the side of which is the remains of the old coal transport bridge. The statue of a miner pushing a coal transport trolley was added later, reminding people of the glory days when the coal mining industry boomed in this area.

On the trail, visitors encounter the well-known Ficusvariegata Blume tree with its large roots. First time hikers almost always take a group photo in front of the tree and if they are lucky get to see Taiwan Blue Magpies in the trees. At the end of the trail, there is a Wutuku Jufu Temple and an area outside the temple to shelter from the wind and rain. It is also a bus terminal. Hikers can return to the start point along the trail or go to Shiding Old Street for a meal and a stroll, where they can experience the quaint beauty of a Taiwanese town.
