Danlan National-level Green Hiking Trail

Ruifang Old Street is older than Jiufen. It used to be a busy business district and the buildings reflect the peak of that success.

Jiufen is one of the top 10 must-see attractions for international tourists in Taiwan. Walk along the stone steps of the mountain city to visit the classical tea houses, enthusiast cafes, specialty food stalls and handicraft shops in the various alleys. Stroll to the viewing platform to enjoy the natural mountain and sea scenery, and the Japanese-style terraced architectural landscape. Jiufen is even more beautiful to behold at night as the street lights are gradually turned on, which is why it is also called the Golden Mountain City.

Jinguashi and Jiufen were famous for their gold mines. Many cultural sites and natural landscapes have been excavated, rebuilt and become popular tourist attractions in northern Taiwan. People can stroll among the traditional Japanese buildings and enjoy the landscape of the courtyard gardens, or go to the Jinguashi Shinto Shrine to view the original beam and column ruins of the ancient shrine, and look out at the magnificent sea and mountain scenery of the Pacific Ocean and Teapot Mountain.

Jimuling, located in Gongliao District, New Taipei City, is a quaint mountain village on Danlan Old Trail. After years of hard work and calling for those interested to help restore the terraced fields one bit at a time, the old water terrace fields, rice paddies, Baojia Road, ponds and other landscape features have been brought back to life.

Aodi is located in Gongliao District, New Taipei City. It is a well-known seafood distribution center on the northeast coast. Because seafood is easy to obtain in large quantities and fresh, the streets along the Coastal Highway resemble a seafood street. The prices are reasonable, the ingredients fresh and universally recommended by foodies.

In the early years Houtong had many coal mines and once had the highest output in Taiwan. After the mining industry declined and the population moved away, stray cats gravitated to the area and were cared for by local residents. Owing to the efforts of cat lovers, Houtong has become a paradise for cats, and cat-related buildings, souvenirs, and landscaping art can be found everywhere. It has attracted international media coverage and been selected one of the “World's Six Greatest Spots for Cats.”

Tsanguangliao Mountain is 738m above sea level, and visitors can choose to take Tsanguangliao Historic Trail or Yangtingli Historic Trail, with many historical sites along the route. From the top of the mountain there is an amazing view. There is also a first order triangulation station, which means that the surrounding space is unobstructed and visitors have a 360 degree view of the mountains near Shuangxi, Peony River Valley and the coastline in the distance. Especially in late autumn, when the pampas flowers are in full bloom, the mountainside is covered with layers of white silvergrass waving elegantly in the cool wind. The scenery attracts a large number of visitors to admire the silvergrass and explore the trail.

Shumeiping Observation Deck is located at the highest point of the historic trail, about 500m above sea level. It is one of the best places to enjoy the beautiful scenery of Danshui, Jinguashi and Jiufen and has views of Wuer Teapot Mountain, Shuinan Cave, Jinguashi and Jiufen. It is also a popular spot for photographers.

As early as the reign of Qing Emperor Kangxi (1662-1722) gold and coal mines were established in Mudan and the area was once mentioned in the same breath as Jiufen and Jinguashi, as one of Taiwan's three gold mountains.

Most Gongliao residents are engaged in agriculture, fisheries and aquaculture. The area is famous for its rich seafood, such as abalone, small abalone, and neritic squid. In addition to fish products, Caoling Historic Trail is also nearby, the most popular and representative hiking trail on the Northeast Cape and Yilan Coastal National Scenic Area. Bring a classic Fulong lunch bento and walk the historic trail to see two national historical stone monuments. Visitors can also rent a bicycle and head towards old Caoling Tunnel to enjoy the comfort of natural air-conditioning.

Fulong Beach has a landscape of inland rivers and open seas formed by Shuangxi River and the Pacific Ocean. Due to the stable water flow, visitors can enjoy parasailing, water skiing, canoeing and more water sports in addition to swimming, surfing. It is a paradise for those who love water-based activities.

Shicheng Station is the easternmost station on the Taiwan Railways system and it is about a 15 minute walk from the station to Shicheng Fishing Port. The fishing port is simple and quiet, and the main fish catch are lobster, small abalone, and agarose etc.

Dali it is at the beginning of Caoling Historic Trail and extends 10km to Gongliao, New Taipei City. After renovation, it is suitable for family hiking and welcomes visitors young and old. The trail is famous for its historical sites, with the well-known Huzi Monument and Xiongzhenmanyan Monument check-in hotspots for people to stop and take pictures.
