Bangka is today called Wanhua. In the early years, the Pingpu people brought agricultural produce here in canoes to trade and the word for "canoe" in the Pingpu language is pronounced "Mangjia."
Dadaocheng got its name from a large area of land used to dry rice. After the opening of Tamsui Port, there were many business houses and Dadaocheng was transformed into a trading center for goods such as tea, cloth, and Chinese medicinal materials.
Songshan District, which has a good living environment and green parks, is located near a bend in the Keelung River. It used to be called "Xikou," which is Taiwanese for "where the river bends.
The establishment of "Taipei Neihu Technology Park" facilitated the vigorous development of Neihu. The telecommunications and computer technology industries successively set up headquarters, driving the rapid construction of residential and commercial buildings.
Nangang is located south of the Keelung River. It was a stopping point for early settlers transporting goods and engaging in trade by ship.
Guting is imbued with a strong sense of cultural and educational nostalgia. In 1946, Taiwan's first normal college to train secondary school teachers was established in this area. Today it is National Taiwan Normal University.
The opening of the MRT brought a large number of people to the Gongguan shopping area, which has everything from clothing stores, opticians, specialty bookstores, and sports goods stores to art cafes, traditional snack bars, and exotic restaurants.
Jingmei River in Jingmei in an important river and a tributary of Xindian River. It was originally called "Wulixue River" and its name in the Pingpu language means "beautiful stream."
Muzha received its name because many fences were used on local land to defend it from external enemies. It is also the end point of the Danlan Cultural Trail Water Route and the starting point of the Mountain Route.
Wanfang is located in Wenshan District. After the Wenhu Line, Taipei City's first MRT line opened to traffic, it initially stopped at Wanfang Hospital and Wanfang Community, boosting Wanfang's development and prosperity.
Dapinglin was originally named after an area of flat forest land. Surrounded on three sides by Xindian River and Jingmei River, it became an important ferry point for ships to load and unload cargo.
